Amelia Rodgers Reserve

The Inwood family lived on this sight until 1863. Their daughter Amelia married a master mariner Brent Rodgers died 18 months later. They had no children. Mrs Amelia Rodgers opened a shop, library and Post Office in the cottage. She was a kindly woman, somewhat austere and always dressed in black. Later she moved to the two-storey house on the opposite side of the road where she continued the Post Office service. She was a local Sunday School teacher right up to her death in 1928. After the Post Office closed in 1926 it was roughcast and occupied by Mr H Howard.
